Grow Book - Daily Chapter Excerpt - Establishing

Grow Room - EstablishingThe plants have taken extremely well to the system, they’ve tripled if not quadrupled in size and they’re now showing exponential growth rates meaning that they’re accelerating off the Richter scale. They’re a very dark green so any previous worries we had of the yellowing has now been rectified, they’re drinking a lot of water, the reservoir is now half empty from 7 days ago when it was full. It’s a 220 litre reservoir and it now has in it approximately 110 litres. What we have found when we have measured what’s left in the reservoir, is that the pH has risen, which is good, because it’s nice to let the pH fluctuate, always let it fluctuate. Basically if growing in pebbles and a flood and drain system, then typically most people let it fluctuate between 6-6.5. Now, you can knock it down to 5.8 and then let it go from 5.8 to 6.4 as an example, and it’s a good idea to let it swing because the swing allows different nutrients to be available to the plant. If you nail the pH in a reservoir strictly down to 6 and kept it on 6 day in day out, then you limit the amount [ ... ]
